Floating Cranes |
REMARKS: The U.S. Navy has no floating cranes in this area. However, the following floating cranes owned and operated by the Fremantle Harbor Works are available: One floating crane mounted on a punt; Priestman grab type, 5 ton capacity, 50 ft. radius; one floating crane mounted on a punt; Priestman grab type, 3 ton capacity, 35 ft. radius; one floating crane, 80 ton, under construction. |

Field Cranes |
REMARKS: The U.S. Navy has no field cranes in this area. However, the following field cranes owned by the Fremantle Harbor Trust, are available and are used by the U.S. Navy: At Victoria Quay, South Wharf.: one 20 ton capacity, 60 ft. radius, used at Berth A; one 3 ton capacity, 60 ft. lift; one 3 ton capacity, 98 ft. lift. Both (b) and (c) can be used at any berth. At North Wharf: One 3 ton capacity, 60 ft. lift which can be used at any berth; two electric loading bulk gantries; eight electric loading bag gantries. |

The cargo handling capacity is 5,000 long tons per day. |

Ship Piers |
REMARKS: There are no piers in the Fremantle Harbor. Two wharves are used instead: Victoria Quay (South Side): A 5,270 dock on south side of inner harbor with 36 ft. of water alongside. Constructed of reinforced concrete piles with bitumen covered timber decking. All berths are provided with adequate railway facilities and trucks may be shunted under ship's gear as required. There are eight good sheds on the dock equipped with electrical appliances for rapid handling of cargo. Water for drinking and flushing systems is provided at all berths. Fuel oil fueling points are provided at all berths. Diesel oil fueling points are provided at D, E and F Sheds. SECRET. |
