Nazarenus of Nazareth, it ſignifieth a man dedicated onely to the ſeruice of God, in the time of the perſecution of the Chriſtians, there was one Nazarius conuerted to the faith by Linus Biſhop of Mediolanum (ye cheife citie in Lumbardie called Millane) and after dyed a martyr about Anno Domini. 70. Oroſius the Hiſtoriographer flouriſhed about Anno Chriſti. 400. a reuerend Prieſt, borne in Spaine, expert in Hiſtories, he wrote. 7. bookes againſt them that ſaid, that the decaye of the common wealth of Rome, hapned by the doctrine of Chriſt, he was ſent by S. Auguſtine to S. Hierome, who was then in Iudea, to learne of him the reaſon of the ſtate of the ſoule.

Patricius borne in Wales,[1] for a time had his above in Scotland, and was after Biſhop in Ireland: the firſt yt brought the Iriſh men to the Chriſtian ſayth. Ther is another named Patricius, Saint Martines ſiſters ſonne, which I ſuppoſe is but the onely Patricke, becauſe the author in Superli. & Sebaſtian Munſter agree both on one computation, Anno Chriſti. 429. This Patricke was a zealous Chriſtian, and died at Glaſtonbury in Somerſet ſhéere, notwithſtanding many fabulous and ſuperſtitious toyes the wicked haue fathered on that good man. Cheſter ſayth in Policronicon, that Saint Patricke in his time was borne, whoſe Father had to name Calprum, which was a Prieſt & a Deacons ſonne, that was named Fodun, Patriks mothers name was Couches, Martines ſiſter of Gallia, that is France, he was called Patricke for his temperance and wiſdome, that is to ſay, father of Citizens, hée liued the age of. 122. yeares, vntill the time of Aurelius Ambroſe, king of ye Britans.
