DEPARTMENT OF TARIJA,
In southern Bolivia, capital Tarija, comprises 5 provinces, 24 cantons, 22 vice-cantons, and 1 military colony. Its provinces and their capitals are: Tarija, capital Tarija; Concepcion, capital Concepcion; Mendez, capital San Lorenzo; Salinas, capital San Luis; Gran Chaca, capital Yacuiva.
The military colony of Crevaux, situated along the Pilcomayo River, embraces a large section of public lands assigned in fee simple to certain military officers in recognition of their public services.
DEPARTMENT OF BENI OR VENI,
Situated in northeastern Bolivia, capital Trinidad, comprises 3 provinces, 15 cantons, and 1 vice-canton. The provinces with their capitals are; Beni, capital Trinidad; Magdalena, capital Magdalena, and Secene, capital Santa Anna.
DEPARTMENT OF ATACAMA OR LITORAL,
The Pacific Coast province of southwestern Bolivia, capital Antofagasta. This province has been occupied by Chile since February 14, 1879.
(2) JUDICIAL DIVISION.
For the administration of justice, Bolivia is divided into 7 districts, viz: Chuquisaca, La Paz, Cochabamba, Potosi, Oruro, Santa Cruz, and Tarija. The Supreme Court sits at Sucre, the capital of the Republic, the superior courts in the capitals of the departments, and the inferior courts in the capitals of the provinces or in such other sections of the country as the due administration of justice may require.
