XXV
Anapaests
Songs rolling a harmony deeper
Than waves on a boreal shore,
Than reboant winds upon seas,—
Battle-harmonies, rousing the sleeper
To war, from the dreaming of war,—
I weary of songs such as these.
Physicians that need not a physic,
Star-voices atune with the morn,
The poet upstanding and strong,
Make drunk with celestial music,
Drive mad with their musical scorn,
The men who go bitterly wrong.
