    Chatham, the royal Dockyard and its Fortifications.—From Chatham Passage Boats sail every Tide to Sheerness; Distance 17 Miles.

    Gadd's Hill, on r. see the Mausoleum in Cobham Park, in which is a fine old Mansion of the Earl of Darnley, well deserving the Traveller's Notice for its Collection of Pictures and a very magnificent Hall, Pleasure-grounds, &c.; and on l. Hermitage, Thos. Bentley, Esq.; and on l. of 28th Milestone, John King, Esq.

    Deptford, are an Hospital for decayed Pilots, and a capacious royal Dockyard, established by Henry VIII.

    Gravesend, on r. Parrock House, Col. Dalton; and ¾ M. further, on l. are Denton Ruins, and a House of Nicholas Gilbee, Esq.

    Northfleet, on l. Ch. Lefevre, Esq.: 1 M.on r. Wombwell Hall, Tho. Harman, Esq.: on l.a little beyond Northfleet, see the Dockyard of Mess. Pitchers.

    Horn's Cross, about ½. beyond, on r. Stone Castle, Robt. Talbot, Esq.: a little further on the l. Ingress Park, belonging to the Crown.

    Crayford, a little before, see on r. Hall Place House, H. Stone, Esq.; and a little further, on l. May Place, which commands a beautiful View of the Thames, Lady Kingston; and Balden House, Geo. Sparkes, Esq.

    Bexley Heath, on 1. at 2 M. Distance, Lynes House, Col. Wheatley, and Belvidere Park, Lord Eardley.

    Shooter's Hill, at the Bottom, on l. see the new-built Artillery Barracks and Military School: on r. Severn Droog Castle, erected in Memory of Sir E. W. James; opposite to which is The Grove, G. T. Goodenough, Esq.; and under the Hill, Wood Lodge, T: Longden, Esq.

    Blackheath, Entrance of, on l. is Greenwich Park, overlooking which are the Seats of Lord Lyttelton and the Princess Sophia of Gloucester; and further on, near the End of the Heath, is Westcomb Park, Wm. Forman, Esq.; adjoining which, Woodlands House,J.J. Angerstein, Esq.: and a little further, the Countess of Buckinghamshire and Bishop of Oxford. Entrance of the Heath, on r. Seats of the Countess Dowager of Dartmouth, and the Hon. Adm. Legge. About ½ M. on r. of 6th Milestone, in the Bottom, Morden College, for decayed Turkey Merchants: ½ M. on l. of 7th Milestone, Charlton House, Sir Tho. M. Wilson, Bart.
