this work, while to attempt the insertion of biographical sketches would he vain. A limited number of photographs of laymen have been re-produced herein; these, however, have not been selected in derogation of the undoubted entitlement of others to a position of equal prominence, but simply because of their availability. There are scores of others all over this great State, who deservedly enjoy the respect and esteem of all with whom their business and social duties bring them into contact.
The author takes this opportunity of expressing his lively sense of gratitude, for the unwearied courtesy, and manifold acts of kindness, of which he has been the recipient during the period covered by the preparation of this work.
