Ik revising this new edition of Chambaud's Fables, 1 have endeavoured to render the work, if possible, better adapted to the purpose for which it is designed; and have therefore, con- fining it to its legitimate object, expunged all extraneous matter — such as the Table of Conju- gations, Grammatictil Definitions, &c. at the beginning of former editions, which are generally to be found in a Grammar, wherewith it is pre- sumed the student is already provided. In lieu of the above, several new Fables are added to the previous selection ; and the Index at the end has been much enlarged by the introduction of all the words contained in the Fables, many of which were omitted in former editions. Every word has also been parsed, and traced to its primitive; and all the idioms explained, so as to render this book quite proper to be placed in the hknds of
