A set of six photographic film slides illustrating undersea life has been published with a separate notice on each slide as part of the May 1970 issue of a monthly scientific journal on marine biology. Practice: Register the claim either on Form BS or Form J. However, if the contribution had included a substantial amount of text, we should request application on Form BS, pointing out the possible limitations of registration in Class J. If the applicant nevertheless insists
on Class J, register the claim on Form J.2.11.3
Registration reguirements

Copyrightable subject-matter. To be entitled to copyright protection as a "photograph," a work must contain an appreciable amount of original photographic authorship. Registration in Class J is not authorized if creative authorship of a copyrightable nature is lacking, as, for example, in a case where the photograph results solely
