VERBOOM (van Boom), ABRAHAM, born at Haarlem, died after 1657. Dutch school ; landscape painter, imitated J. Ruisdael, and influenced by Waterloo. He excelled in painting trees, and his richly wooded land- scapes are good in aerial perspective, though somewhat heavy in colouring. Lingelbach, Adriaan van de Velde, and Philips Wouwer- man painted the figures in his landscapes.
