Crossed races are at the same time crossed cultures, crossed moralities: they are in most cases more evil, more cruel and more restless. Purity is the last outcome of countless adaptations, absorptions and separations, and the advance towards purity is shown by the fact that the power latent in some race or other is more and more restricted to special, selected functions, whilst in former times it had to transact too many and often contradictory things: such a restriction will, at the same time, always appear is an impoverishment, and requires a cautious and wild judgment. But in the end, in case of a successful process of purification, all that power which was formerly wasted in the contest of the disharmonious qualities is at the disposal of the entire organism; for which reason purified races have ever grow stronger and more beautiful. The Greeks are to us a model of a purified race and culture; and I trust that some day also a pure European race and culture may prosper.
