I860, and Gen. 1868; commanded the 83rd Foot in Canada, 18378; the Bombay division of the Army of the Punjaub, at Goojerat, 1849, and all sub- sequent operations, for which he received a medal and clasps; also commanded a division of the Indian army, 1853; is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for (co.) Mid- Lothian, and Col. Commandant of the 60th Rifles, and President of the Council ot Royal Archers.
