  1. Hēr ys godspellys angyn Hǣlyndes Crīstes, Godes Suna.
  2. Swā āwriten is on þæs wītegan bēc Isaiam, Nū ic āsende mīnne engel beforan þīnre ansȳne, sē gegearwað þīnne weg beforan ðē;
  3. clypiendes stefn on ðām wēstene, Gegearwiað Drihtnes weg, dōð rihte his sīðas.
  4. Iohannes wæs on wēstene fulligende, and bodiende dædbōte fulwiht on synna forgyfenesse.
  5. And tō him fērde eall Iudeisc rīce, and ealle Hierosolima ware, and wæron fram him
