Evening Songs

LXII

From heaven angels come to earth—
Dreams with their golden visions,
And each of them brings men in sleep
Delight from happy regions.

Wherever these fair angels stop,
Men learn all they had craven;
For they know and tell them in dreams
Fair tales direct from heaven.

The eyelids suddenly get sealed—
With sweetness of sleep laden:
Thine image stands in front of me—
Good night, good night—my maiden!
