but neither the time of his taking possession of the see nor that of his death are known. Wharton[1] thinks that the first event occurred in 1154, and the other in the following year.

?? Hen IIGodfrey was the next bishop of this see[2], and was also consecrated by archbishop Theobald[3]: the exact year is not recorded, but it probably was 1160. He deserted his see in 1165, and became abbot of Abingdon[4]. He was deprived in 1175[5].

??Hen IIAdam, a canon of Pershore, was appointed on the deprivation of Godfrey. He was consecrated at Westminster on Sunday 12th Oct.[6] 1175. He died at Oxford in 1181[7], and was buried in the monastery of Osney[8].

?? Hen IIJohn succeeded Adam in this see, and was consecrated at Caen in Normandy 25th June 1183[9]; and he made his profession to archbishop Boniface[10]. He died about 1186[11], and was succeeded by

Archbishop Theobald died before the middle of the year 1161, and Godfrey assisted at the consecration of archbishop Thomas in 1162. In the Abingdon Register (MS. Cott. Claud. B. vi. fol. 177.) this passage occurs : " Mortuo Walkelino abbate Abendon Godefridus Episcopus de Sancto Asaph factus fuit Procurator istius Abbatiæ per novem annos et dimid. per Henricum Regem.
