SIXTH STALL.
James Cooethopp <>r Ci b.thopp, A.M., was appointed
the first in this stall by the charter of the new foun- dation in 1546. lie died 19th July 1557, and was buried in the cathedral. He was also dean of Peter- borough.
William Chedsey, S.T.P., archdeacon of Middlesex, was installed the latter end of July 1,557. He became president of C.C.C., Oxford, but was deprived of all his offices in 1559.
Robkkt Uanki.s succeeded in i -",59. He died at Mor- ton in Essex, 29th Aug. 1591, and was buried there. He was appointed to the eighth stall by the charter of foundation in 1 546, but was deprived therefrom by queen Mary for being married.
John K knnall, LL.D., are/u/i </<<>! t <f u.rfonl, removed hither from the eighth stall, was the next in this stall in 1591. He died at Exeter the next year. His will was proved 22nd April 1592.
Joh\ Weston, LL.D., was installed 3rd Sept. 1591. He died 20th July 1632, aetat. circa (So, and was bu- ried in one of the north aisles of this cathedral.
John Morris 8 , S.T.B., succeeded in the latter end of July 1632. He died 21st March 1647-8, setat. 53, and was buried at the entrance into the Divinity- chapel.
Edward Pocock, S.T.B., Hebrew professor of Oxford, succeeded in the beginning of the year 1648; and soon after he exchanged it for the fourth stall with
John: Mills, LL.B., who was admitted in 1648, and was deprived of it in 165 1 .
Ambrose Uptox, A.M., was substituted by the com- mand of Oliver Cromwell in 1651; but in 1659 the Long Parliament ejected him, and restored
