His will is in the Prero- gative Office of Canterbury 31 . The conge d'elire is dated 3rd Nov. 1638". 639 John Towers, S.T. P., dean of Peterborough, was elected Car. I. 21st Nov. 1 638, obtained the royal assent ;th Dec.- 1 , he was confirmed 7th, and consecrated 13th Jan.-' 1638-9, had the temporalities restored to him 23rd Jan.'-', and was enthroned 8th March following. He died 1 oth Jan. 1 6489, and was buried in his cathedral.
