Peteb Vanxks, archdeacon of Worcester, had this
deanery conferred on him by virtue of the King's let- ters 3rd Feb. 1539. It seems that lie resigned in tho beginning of Icing Edward the Sixth's reign- 1 , but he certainly held the office 15th Oct. 1557 - 6 . His will, dated 1st July 1.562, was proved 1st May 1563.
William Bbadb&idge, S.T.B., was collated in June 1563: void by the death of Peter Valines. In 1570 he was made bishop of Exeter.
Edmuxd Freakk, S.T. P., Jean of Rochester, succeeded here 18th Sept. 1570. In 1572 he was made bishop of Rochester.
John Piers, S.T. P., succeeded 15th March 1571-2. In 1576 he was made bishop of Rochester, but held this deanery in connnendam with it till his translation to Salisbury in the next yeai
Joux Bridges, S.T. P., succeeded Jan. 1577; and in 1604 he was made bishop of Oxford 28 .
John Gourdex, S.T. P., held this office in Feb. 1604, and died 3rd Sept. 1619, setat. 75, and was buried in the cathedral- 9 . His will is in the Prerogative Office of Canterbury.
Joux Williams, S.T.P. : was collated joth Sept. 1619, and installed the middle of Oct. following. About the middle of the next year he was made dean of West- minster.
Joux Bowle, S.T. P., was installed the latter end of July 1620; and in 1629 he was made bishop of Ro- chester.
Edmuxd Mason, S.T. P., was nominated 17th Feb. and collated 20th March 1629 30 ao . He died
