He became pre- sident of St. John's college, and was at length arch- bishop of York. Arthur Atey, M.A., pri?icipal of St. Alban hall and fellow of Merton college, was elected Aug. 1572. Thomas Smyth, M.A., student of Christ Church, was elected 9th April 1582. Thomas Wenman, M.A. of Balliol college, was elected 22nd May 1594. Thomas Cole, M.A., fellow of Corpus Christi college, was elected 5th Aug. 1597. William James, M.A., student of Christ Church, was elected 7 th Aug. 1601. Isaac Wake, M.K., fellow of Merton college, was elected 14th Dec. 1604. Sir Isaac Wake was one of the re- presentatives of the University in 1623-4.
