See Deans of Peterborough. Richard Clayton, S.T.P., succeeded in 1593, and in 1595 was translated to the mastership of St. John's college in this university. See Deans of Peterborough. John Palmer, S.T.P., succeeded in 1595. See Deans of Peterborough. Barnaby Goche succeeded in 1604. He represented this university in parliament. Henry Smith, S.T.P., succeeded in 1626, and died in 1642. See Prebendaries of the fifth stall, Peter- borough. Edward Rainbow, S.T.P., succeeded in 1642, and in 1 650 was ejected for refusing the engagement. John Sadler, M.A., was admitted in 1650, and de- prived at the restoration. Edward Rainbow, S.T. P., was restored in 1660; dean of Peterborough the same year. Bishop of Carlisle in 1664. John Howorth, '$i'Y .^.^ prebendary of the second stall of Peterborough^ succeeded in this mastership in 1664, and died in 1668. James Du port, S.T.
