Cloudy and cool. Left Boulder for Berthoud on 9:28 train, for Colorado Geological Survey , about on time, reached Berthoud at 10:30, went to hotel, then to livery stable and ordered team. Had dinner at 11:45. Started west at 12:30. I about the middle of the medial “Dakota” shales we found Inoceramus cf. labiatus and Avicula linguiformis as at Owl Canyon , with other spp. and many plant stems. In west limb of W syncline basal Dakota sandstone is very massive and hard, and Morrison consists mostly of hard limestones and calcareous sandstones below, upper part covered. Found no fossils.
