The inlet shown on the U.S.G.S. topographic sheet at the mouth of the Soledad Valley which I feared would give us trouble, is not now an inlet at all. It seems above the highest tides and there was no water coming from the valley. Along the north edge of the valley the Santa Fe R.R. is grading a new line to run along the top of the bluff. Passed the Torrey pines before we knew it. Cloudy all day.
