I believe Arnold reports Pecten aequisulcatus a common fossil in the upper San Pedro formation at Deadman Island . I searched all the formations and did not find a single specimen of it in place in any of them except the kitchen middens of the soil layer at the top. They were abundant on the slopes and at the base of the bluffs, but had quite evidently fallen and slid down from the middens, Found nothing in the Miocene. Returned to Salt Lake station at East San Pedro at 5:15 p.m. Very hot here but breezy on Deadman Island . Round trip fare for 4 $1.00, boat $1.00

Up at 7 a.m. Started for San Pedro on 9:30 San Pedro electric car, arriving there at 10 a.m. fare one way 15 ¢ each. Very hot, bright morning where protected from the breeze, but fine breeze.
