33. Đā cwæð sē Hǣlend, Gȳt ic bēo sume hwīle mid ēow, and ic gā tō ðām þe mē sende.[1]
34. Gē sēcað mē, and ne findaþ; and gē ne magon cuman þār ic eom.[2]
35. Þā Iudeas cwǣdon betwēonan him sylfum, Hwyder wyle þēs faran þæt wē hine ne findon? cwyst ðū wyle hē faran on ðēoda tōdrǣfednysse, and hig lǣran?[3]
36. Hwæt is ðēos spræc þe hē sprycð, Gē sēceaþ mē, and ne findaþ; and gē ne magon cuman þār ic eom?[4]
37. On þām æftemestan mǣran frēolsdæge stōd sē Hǣlend and clypode, Cume tō mē sē ðe hine þyrste, and drince.[5]
38. Se þe gelyfþ on mē, swā þæt gewrit cwyð, lybbendes wætres flōd flowað of his innoðe.[6]
39. Þæt he cwæð be þām Gāste þe þā sceoldon underfōn þe on hyne gelyfdon; þā gyt næs sē Gāst geseald, for þām pe sē Hǣlend næs ðā gȳt gewuldrud.[7]
40. Of ðǣre tide sēo menigeo cwæð, þā hēo gehȳrde ðās his sprǣce, Đēs is sōð wītega.[8]
