GAZETTE.
Government Notification.
The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultime; and notice is hereby given, that a New Series of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that
"THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE,"
will, as before, be the only Official Organ for Proclamations, Notifications, and Public Papers, of this Government.

Government Notification.
In consequence of Instructions from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies having reference to the Government of Hongkong and its Dependencies, it is hereby intimated, that the Government Notification of 15th April, 1854, first in order in the Gazette of 22d April, 1854, is withdrawn from this date, and that all Communications to Government in matters concerning this Colony are in future to be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, for submission to His Excellency the Governor and Commander-in-Chief.

Government Notification.
It is hereby notified, under the terms of Clause 36, Part II. (illegible text) the "Merchant Shipping Act, 1864," that the Certificate (illegible text) the Harbour Master for the time being, or that of (illegible text) Rickett, Esq., Government Marine Surveyor, will be received as sufficient to prove the Measurement of Ships requiring Imperial Registers at this Port.

Government Notification.
It is in contemplation to offer for Sale by Public Auction the Land situated between the site of the late Howitzer Battery and the site of the late Naval Stores, forming a length of frontage of about 900 Feet.
Parties desirous of purchasing Lots in that Locality, either on the sea or land side of the Queen's Road, are requested to communicate with the Surveyor General on or before the 20th instant, in order that their wishes with regard to Size may as far as possible be attended to previously to the completion of the plan.
The Sale will take place on the 4th proximo, before which date the detailed particulars of the Land and Rental will be published for general information.

The Government of India having requested, that a separate Bag be made up at this Office (illegible text), independent of the Mails for (illegible text): The Post-master General has been (illegible text) to authorize the arrangement; and in future, (illegible text) Bag will be made up with the General (illegible text) to be delivered at Kedgeree immediately on (illegible text) of the Packet at the Month of the Ganges.

The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company's Steam-ship Ganges, Captain Bowen, with Her Majesty's Mails, Passengers, Specie, and Cargo for the above Places, will leave this Tuesday, the 10th July, at 2 p.m.
Cargo will received on board until 5 p.m. on the 8th, specie until Noon on the 9th, and parcels until 2 p.m. on the 9th.

Contents, and value of packages, are required.
A Written Declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages for the Overland Route is required by the Egyptian Government, and must be delivered by the Shipper to the Company's Agents with the Bills of Lading or with Parcels; and the Company do not hold themselves responsible for any Detention or Prejudice which may happen from incorrectness in such declaration.
