These are clothed with luxuriant vegetation (forests of pine trees were found by Grey on the hills on the South side), among which the pandanas and fern are most notable; and the whole country is not less rich in animal than in vegetable life, both by land and water.

The tides on this coast rise from 25 to 35 feet.
