Anderson, Harry Reuben, soldier, was born Jan. 20, 1844, in Chillicothe, Ohio. In 186565 he was a cadet in the military academy; and became captain in the sixth regiment United States volunteer infantry in the latter year. He passed through all the grades of the artillery service; became major in 1901; and was subsequently retired as brigadiergeneral of the United States army.

He is president of the People's savings bank of Jackson, Tenn., which was founded in 1889. He served two terms as a representative in the Tennessee state legislature. Anderson, Hugh J., lawyer, congressman, governor, was born May 10, 1801, in Wisconset, Maine. He was clerk of the Waldo county courts in 1827-37. In 1837-41 he was a representative from Maine to the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth congresses. He was governor of Maine in 1844-47. He was a presidential elector in 1849 and commissioner of customs in Washington in 1853-58. In 1866 he was appointed sixth auditor of the United States treasury. He died May 3, 1881, in Portland, Maine.

In 180307 he was a representative from Pennsylvaina to the eighth and ninth congresses. He was a presidential elector in 1816. He was one of the founders of the methodist church in America. Anderson, James Buchanan, clergyman, banker, author, was born June 4, 1858, in Baltimore, Md. He was educated in the, pubs-' lie schools and at the university of Mississ' ippi. He traveled through Alabama as a preacher; in 1888-92 filled a pastorate in Jacksonville, Fla.; and then settled in Tampa, Fla. In 1891 he was a delegate to the ecumenical council of methodism held in Washington, D.C. He has been president and cashier of banks; was fiscal agent for the city of Tampa ; and has filled the position of inspector-general. He has now retired from active work; and resides in Tampa, Fla. He is the author of several religious Monographs.
Anderson, James Hamilton, soldier, lawyer, founder, was born May 30, 1843, in Cincinnati, Ohio. For awhile he was in a regiment of the North East Missouri volunteers in 1861; and in 1864 enlisted in the forty-fifth regiment volunteer infantry. Since 1866 he has practiced law in Keokuk, Iowa. He was vice-president and manager of the Keokuk and northwestern railroad; and he built the original street railway in Keokuk, of which for several years he was president. He is president of the Keokuk school board.
