Adams, Edward LeGrand, journalist, dipwas born Jan. 3, 1851, in Clarence, N.Y. He was educated at the Clarence academy. New York state normal school, and at lomat,
the university of Rochester. He has been city editor of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle; and editor of the Blmira Advertiser of New York. He has been deputy collector of internal revenue; and state tax commissioner for the state of New York. Since 1903 he has been a representative in the United States diplomatic service; and is now secretary of the United States legation and also consul-general with headquarters at Stockholm, Sweden. Adams, Elmer Bragg, lawyer, jurist, was born Oct. 37, 1842, in Pomfret, Vt. He was educated at Yale college and at Harvard law school; and he received the degree of LL.D. In 1868 he began the practice of law in St. Louis, Mo.; in 187985 was one of the circuit judges of St.Louis,

Adams, Edwin,
actor, comedian, was born 1834, in Medford, Mass.; and was a descendant of Henry Adams of Braintree, Mass. From 1853 he played in Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City. In 1866-70 he played with Edwin Booth at Booth's theatre of New York City; and then went to Australia. In 1876 he received a great popular benefit at San Francisco, Cal. He died Oct. .25, 1877, in Philadelphia, Pa. Adams, Eldridge L., lawyer, business president, was born Sept. 16, 1866, in Canandaigua, N.Y. Since 1889 he has practiced law in Rochester and New York City. For eight years he was chairman of the municipal civil service commission of Rochester, N.Y. He is president of the Manufacturers commercial company of New York City; president of the Rochester folding box company; and a director of the Union trust company of Rochester,

For a number of years he was editor and owner of the Vancouver Register, where he was also registrar of the land office; and subsequently published the Columbian of St. Helena, Ore. Adams, Ephraim H., soldier, carpenter, inventor, was born Sept. 9, 1831, in Benton, Ohio. He was educated in the public schools of Crawford county, Ohio. He served through the civil war; and participated in numerous battles and skirmishes. He is a cabinetmaker, carpenter and contractor of Clyde, Ohio; and has held township and other offices of trust and honor. He is the inventor and patentee of Adams' Buckeye roller. Adams, Ezra Eastman, clergyman, author, was born Aug. 29, 1813, in Concord, N.H. He was made professor of theology in Lincoln university. Pa.; and in 1870 became poet,
editorially connected with the Presbyterian of Philadelphia. He died Nov. 3, 1871, in Oxford, Pa.
Adams, Mrs. Florence Adelaide Fowle, dramatic reader, teacher, author, was bom Oct. 15, 1863, in Chelsea, Mass. In 1884 she graduated from the Boston school of oratory; and in 1888 was married to George Adams, a direct descendant of the statesmen and presidents of that name. She is the author of Gestures and Pantomimic Action. Adams, Francis Alexandre, journalist, orator, author, was born May 11, 1874, in New York City. In 1890 he edited and published the Gotham Monthly, which was the pioneer genealogical periodical in all America; and which in 1891, under the title of Adams' Magazine, became the official exponent of the daughters of the American revolution. He is the author. of Who Rules America; The Transgressors; and other works.
