Adams, Washington Irving Lincoln, journbusiness man, banker, author, was born Feb. 22, 1865, in New York City. He graduated from the high school of Montclair, N.J. For over ten years he was editor of the Photographic Times. In 1896-99 he was president of the Scoville and Adams company; and in 1901 was vice-president of the Montclair trust company, becoming its president in 1905. Since 1901 he has been treasurer and then president of Styles and Cash of New York City. He is the author of the Amateur Photographer; Sin, Sunlight and Shadow; In Nature's Image; Woodland and Meadow; and a volume of poems. Adams, Will A., soldier, was born in Tennessee. Adams, Zabdiel Boylston, soldier, physician, surgeon, was born Oct. 25, 1829, in Boston, Mass. In 1849 he graduated from Bowdoin college; and in 1853 from Harvard medical school. He became a noted physician and surgeon of Framingham, Mass. In 1861 he was appointed an assistant surgeon of the seventh regiment Massachusetts volunteers; and in 1862 was in the siege of Yorktown. The same year he became surgeon of the thirty-second regiment Massachusetts volunteers. In 1864 he became captain of company F, fifty-sixth regiment Massachusetts volunteers; was in the battles of the Wilderness; and was a prisoner at Lynchburg and Libby. prison. He became a major; and in 1865 tooK part in the assault on Petersburg. Adamson, Alfred, naval officer, was born Sept. 19, 1836, in Brownville, N.Y. In 1861 he entered the United States navy as third assistant engineer; and in 1862 was promoted to second asistant engineer. He was at the capture of Hatteras Inlet and Port Royal; and was in numerous actions in Charleston harbor. He assisted in the capture of Fort Strong and other fortifications on Cape Fear river. In 1865 he was promoted to first assistant engineer; and in 1879 became chief engineer; and subsequently rear admiral.
