He was educated in the public schools of Adams city, Mass.; in the public schools of Aurora, 111. and in 1880 graduated from the East Aurora high school. In 18821900 he was city editor and in 1903 was sole proprietor of the Aurora Daily Express. In 1901-03 he was in charge of the Illinois state printing. Since 1903 he has been a writer of business literature in Chicago, 111. He is the author of The Bashful Man and Others; The Boys of Bob's Hill; and The Bob's Hill Cave-Boys. Burton, Ernest De Witt, educator, author, was born Feb. 4, 1856, in Granville, Ohio. He is a professor of New testament interpretation in the university of Chicago. He is the author of Records and Letters of the Apostolic Age; Syntax of Moods and Tenses in New Testament Greek; and part author Harmony of the Four Gospels. of .

Burton, Frederick Russell, journalist, composer, author, was born Feb. 23, 1861, in Jonesville, Mich. He held editorial positions on leading newspapers in Boston, Troy and Fall River; and for five years was a reporter
New York Sun. In 1889 he went to England and became assistant editor of the London edition of the New York Herald. He returned to New York in 1892 and has since devoted himself to writing fiction, composing music, and conducting choral societies. He is for the

Burton, Henry Fairfiela, educator, was born July 17, 1851, in Elyria, Ohio. Since 1877 he has been a professor of latin; and in 1893-1900 and 1908-09 was acting president of the university of Rochester of New York. Burton, Henry Stanton, soldier, was born 1818 in New York. He was brevetted brigadier-general in 1865 for services at the capture of Petersburg; and commanded his regiment, stationed in various forts for the remainder of his life. He died April 4, 1869, in Fort Adams, R.I. Burton, Hiram Rodney, physician, congressman, was born Nov. 13, 1842, in Lewes, Del. He taught school for two years; and since 1868 he has practiced medicine in Frankfort and Lewes, Del. In 1905-09 he was a, representative from Delaware to the fiftyninth and sixtieth congresses. Burton, Hutchins G., lawyer, congressman, governor, was born in Granville county, N.C. In 1810 he represented Mecklenburg in the
North Carolina state legislature;
and
in
1816 represented the county of Halifax. For several years he was attorney-general of the state, in 1819-25 he was a representative from North Carolina to the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth congresses; and was the fifteenth governor in 1834-27. He originated the American fiber company, which alms to produce merchantable fiber from every form of vegetable which contains fiber. He was the chief promoter of the Aguan navigation and improvement company; whose object is to connect the Aguan river with the Caribbean sea.
