Dickinson, Clarence, musician, organist, founder, composer, was dorn May 7, 1873, in La Fayette, Ind. In 1890-94 he attended the Northwestern university of Evanston, 111.; and received his education in Chicago, Berlin and Paris. He has been director of the
department
organ
in
the Bush Temple conservatory of Chicago and a director in the theoretical department of Columbia school of music. He produced the comic opera entitled The Medicine Man, which was played in Chicago and Boston. He is a founder of the American guild or organists; the Chicago M. S. society;- and is a conductor of the Aurora musical club and the musical society of Chicago. He is the author of numerous pieces for the organ and voice.

Dickinson, Donald McDonald, lawyer, cabinet officer, was born Jan. 17, 1846, in Port Ontario, N.Y. He is a noted democratic politician; and in 1888-89 he was postmastergeneral of the United States. Dickinson, Edward, lawyer, state senator, congressman, was born Jan. 1, 1803, in Amherst, Mass. He was a member of the Massachusetts state legislature in 1838-39; of the state senate in 1842-43; of the governor's council in 1846-47; and in 1853-55 he was a representative from Massachusetts to the thirty-third congress. Dickinson, Emily, poet, was born in 1830 in Massachusetts. Since her death three volumes of poems, selected from her manuscripts, have been published. She died in 1886 in Amherst, Mass. Dickinson, Hester A., journalist, poet, was bom in Ohio. She is president of the Pacific coast women's press association. She is the author of two volumes of poems entitled Vesta; and Fagots.
