306. दिखाई देना, etc. One small class of Compounds demands a separate notice. A few Abstract Nouns, notably दिखाई, a seeing, मुनाई, a hearing (and a few others formed on the same principle), are formed with देना into Compound Verbs which are treated as Neuters, but have somewhat the force of Passives. Occasionally, पड़ना is found instead of देना.
