We here give a short note on several important -works of biography written by the Vaisnavas in the latter part of the 16th and in the earlier part of the 17th century. By far the greatest of the biographical works, next to that of Chaitanya’s life by Krisna Das Kaviraj is the Bhaktiratnakar by Narahari Chakra- Bhakti Ratnakar. varti. He was a disciple of the celebrated Vigva Nath Chakravarti, whose commentary on _ the Bhagavata is authoritative amongst Vaisnavas in the interpretation of their sacred scriptures.
