NEW 12MOS.

THE HONORABLE
PETER STIRLING.

A NOVEL.

By Paul Leicester Ford. 12mo. $1.50.

This is a story of American character and American issues. The hero, though a New Yorker engaged in Sixth Ward-politics, keeps his record clean. Gotham's Irish politician is vividly characterized, though the "boss" is treated rather leniently. A "Primary," which to most voters is utterly unknown from actual experience, is truthfully described. But the book is far from being all politics, as self-sacrifice and love are prominent factors.

A New Edition of Paul Heyse's Famous

Children of the World.

12mo. $1.25.

Perhaps no other German standard equals this for rare combination of an intensely romantic story with a vivid study of German life. The doctor of philosophy, the musicians, the social agitator, the serene and gentle old Christian artist, the baleful religious hypocrite, the rich doctor with Bohemian tastes, the stolid soulless count, are all typical Germans. In Toinette we have the exquisite witchery Heyse gives to the heroine of his Italian tales.
