Preface
I have endeavoured to make my remarks "non-party"—that is to say, of equal use to the adherents of all political parties.
That I have strong political views of my own, and that I have been en gaged, for years past, in active service on behalf of the party which has my allegiance, will be obvious; had it not been so, I should not have been competent to undertake this task. But I have endeavoured to suppress my own party views; and if my readers rise from a perusal of my pages still in doubt as to the political party to which I belong, one at least of my objects will have been attained.
