Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
The narrative starts with the statement that Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted; it then goes on to say that after fasting for forty days and forty nights he hungered, that the devil then suggested that he convert the stones into bread and satisfy his hunger. This he refuses to do. The devil then takes him up into the holy city, placing him upon the very pinnacle of the temple, and urges him to cast himself down in order to demonstrate that he is the Son of God.
