IMPORT AND EXPORT ORDINANCE.
(Chapter 60).
IMPORT AND EXPORT (GENERAL) REGULATIONS 1971.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 31 of the Import and Export Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations—

PART I.
Preliminary.

Citation and commencement.
(Cap. 60.)
1. These regulations may be cited as the Import and Export (General) Regulations 1971, and shall come into operation on the day appointed for the commencement of the Import and Export Ordinance.

Interpretation. 2. In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires—

“automatic machine” means any mechanical device which is designed or adapted—

(a) to enable a person to release, set in motion, manipulate, control or direct the movement of any ball, projectile or other thing or any electrical impulse and thereby register any score or combination of scores; or
(b) to supply any thing to a person who inserts therein any coin or other thing,

other than a device which is—

(i) designed or adapted solely for the purpose of recording the weight of any person or thing or of selling any thing to the value of the coin inserted therein; or
(ii) designed or adapted for use solely for any scientific or industrial purpose;

“gold" means gold bullion or gold coins;

“licence" means a licence issued under section 3 of the Ordinance;

“textiles" includes any natural or artificial fibre products and any combination of natural and artificial fibre products in the form of yarn, fabrics, garments or other manufactured articles.
