§13. The names and powers of the consonants are as follows:—

ကကြီး, great ka, k, as in king.
ခခွေ, curved ʻka, ʻk, k aspirated, [pron. as if written ခခွေး. St.]
ဂငယ် small ga, g, as in good.
ဃကြီး, great ga, the same.
င, nga,
ng, as in rang, when final; when initial, not to be exemplified in English.
စလုံး, round tsa, ts.
ဆလိမ်, twisted ʻtsa, ʻts, ts aspirated.
ဇခွဲ, divided dza, dz.
or , ဈမြင်းဆွဲ,
bridle dza, the same, [pron. as if written ဈမြင်ဆွဲ. St.]
