AND I saw an angel come down from heaven, [1] having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on [2] the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, [3] and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and [4] set a seal upon him, [5] that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw [6] thrones, and they sat upon them, and [7] judgment was given unto them: and I saw [8] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and [9] which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, [10] neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and [11] reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such [12] the second death hath no power, but they shall be [13] priests of God and of Christ, [14] and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, [15] Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out [16] to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, [17] Gog and Magog, [18] to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 [19] And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 [20] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, [21] where the beast and the false prophet are, and [22] shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face [23] the earth and the heaven fled away; [24] and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, [25] small and great, stand before God; [26] and the books were opened: and another [27] book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, [28] according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; [29] and death and ‖‖ Or, the grave. hell delivered up the dead which were in them: [30] and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And [31] death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. [32] This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life [33] was cast into the lake of fire.
CHAP.XXI.
AND [34] I saw a new heaven and a new earth: [35] for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw [36] the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared [37] as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, [38] the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 [39] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and [40] there shall be no more death, [41] neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And [42] he that sat upon the throne said, [43] Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for [44] these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, [45] It is done. [46] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. [47] I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit ‖‖ Or, these things. all things; and [48] I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 [49] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in [50] the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of [51] the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee [52] the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10 And he carried me away [53] in the spirit
