The explorers’ notes are extremely full regarding the Columbia river and their experiences in navigating its rapids and tidal current. As a scenic proposition, no stream on the American continent, north of the Mexican Republic, certainly, will scarcely compare with the Columbia. It is a great and mighty river, bulwarked by mountains that form some of the grandest handiwork of the Almighty, and a never-ending source of
