About eighteen months ago I published a collection of Lyrics from the Song-books of the Elizabethan Age; and this was followed recently by a second collection, More Lyrics from the Song-books of the Elizabethan Age.
The present book consists of poems selected from those two volumes. In the preface to More Lyrics I announce that I intended to publish such an anthology as is here offered to the reader.

In the third edition a few textual corrections have been introduced, and the editor has succeeded in discovering the authorship of some songs that he had previously failed to identify.
July, 1891.
Some additional corrections have been introduced in the fourth edition.
October, 1896.
