pion in debate that might be selected by that fraternity, or in case we had no opponent we were prepared to expose their system in a series of lectures. This they could not allow. We found an opponent on the ground, but he proved himself incapable of grappling with systems. Our line of thought was new to all. It was readily seen that the discussion was one between the Bible and the Book of Mormon. All that heard and all that have seen our arrangement of matter are unanimous in the conclusion that the interests of Truth demanded that we publish what we presented in that debate. To this request we have consented. Therefore we send this book forth, hoping that it may do much good, and believing that it will stand as a Gibraltar in behalf of Truth.
