ANSWER.

Whate’er is your wish, believe it’s not mine,
To think I should like you, my odd Valentine.
One weighty objection’s the company you keep
The best are in calf, and the poorer in sheep.
’Mongst folios, and quartos, octavos, & twelves
And all your dead stock, there’s no room for
ourselves.
The Muse I admire, and I’d rather, pray let
her,
Have a cellar of books than the finest bookseller


TO A HAUGHTY PERSON.

Could vanity please, or folly delight,
Without beauty of person or mind; [might
You’ve pretensions indeed, which certainly
For such graces, admirers find.

But since the reverse is the case, pray refrain,
