This was practically the last of Moresby's exploring and
surveying voyages so far as they affected the shores of Cape York Peninsula and the islands of Torres Strait ; but a vast amount of useful work was done by him on the east and north of New Guinea before the "Basilisk" was finally paid off at Sheerness on 15th December, 1874.
