Its fertile fronds, standing quite erect below but curving outward above the fruiting pinnæ, are set in a somewhat shallow vase formed by the sterile fronds, which fall away in every direction.
In the fall the fronds turn yellow, and at times are so brilliant that they flood the woods with golden light.
Like the other Osmundas, the Interrupted Fern is easily cultivated.
