PROVERBS
To be observed by all who wish to thrive.
When riches increase, the body decreaseth;
For men grow old before they grow rich.
Spend and be free, but do not waste.
Who more than he is worth doth spend,
Will be a beggar at the end.
Whoso spendeth more than he should,
Shall not have to spend when he would.
The table robs more than the thief.
Trade is the mother of money.
When the tree is fallen every man goeth to it with
his hatchet. Or, when the man's down, down
with him.
For want of a nail the shoe is lost;
For want of a shoe the horse is lost.
For want of a horse the rider is lost.
To him that is willing, ways are not wanting.
They must hunger in frost that will not work in
heat.
Go not to the physician on every disorder;
Nor to the lawyer on every quarrel;
Nor to the tavern always when dry.
Patience, time, and money, accommodate all things.
Prayer and provinder hinders no journey.
Fear nothing but sin.
