CHOOSE.
A MEAN man there lived—so totally mean
That he never drew generous breath
His vileness he knew, and remorse was so keen
That he hated himself unto death.

A good man there was; so perfectly good
That he couldn't do ill if he tried;
He talked of his good, so complacent his mood,
Till the neighborhood faded and died.
