STANZAS
3
Yet Satan's empire fell,
And with sin fierce war they wage.

The sword of the word of God
They bore to a distant land;
Where no Christian's foot had trod
They stood, a patriot band.

Their country was not of earth,—
As pilgrims they lived and moved;
They rejoiced in their heavenly birth,
And they spoke of the land they loved.

They told the poor Indian, lost
In ignorance dark as night,
Of the price his redemption had cost,—
Of Jesus, and heaven, and light.

They taught him that Jesus' command
Was that wars and contentions should cease;
That his symbol in every land
Was the olive-branch, whispering peace.
