POEMS.
STANZASSUGGESTED BY A VIEW OF BOSTON FROM THE CUPOLA OF THE STATE-HOUSE.
From Albion's isle I come,
I was born on a foreign strand,
Yet I love the Pilgrims' home,
And am proud on this spot to stand.
I was born on a foreign strand,
Yet I love the Pilgrims' home,
And am proud on this spot to stand.
O, much did I long to see
The scenes of their bright career,—
Of the good, the brave, the free,—
Of their toils and their triumphs here!
The scenes of their bright career,—
Of the good, the brave, the free,—
Of their toils and their triumphs here!
