TO MOTHER.
And one who was dearest and best, Mother,Whose arm was my shield and my stay,Lies silent and cold in the grave beneathThe dew and the flowers to-day.
Now I am so lonely and sad, Mother;I am even too tired to weep;I long to lie down by my lost ones, to-night,And lose all my sorrows in sleep.
