"There was a boy of eighteen in one of our airdromes," writes Mr. Philip Gibbs, the war correspondent. "His first adventure was with a German motor car with two officers. He gave chase, . . . and followed. Then he came low and used his machine gun. One of the officers fired an automatic pistol at him, so the boy pulled out his own revolver. There followed the strangest duel between the boy in the air and the man in the car. The airplane was fifty feet high then, but dropped to twenty just as the car pulled up outside a house.
